MediaWiki XML

When I try to import using this command:C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\mediawiki-1.13.2\maintenance>"C:\Program Files\xampp\php\php.exe" importDump.php C:\Users\Matthew\Downloads\enwiki-20080524-pages-articles.xml.bz2

MediaWiki XML

"running importDump.php can take quite a long time. For a large Wikipedia dump with millions of pages, it may take days, even on a fast server" - i know a fast way but it works only with myisam but mediawiki installs with innodb by default. it is copying files in /var/lib/mysql. as i remember, copying single databases is possible. probably there are tools that make it possible to copy also innodb. of course, to use this method with wikipedia, wikipedia admins should use it. --Qdinar (talk) 12:06, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What helped: Opened the dump xml with Xcode and saw a Warning: Constant folding feature in Zend OPcache... - I removed this line and saved it and then it worked. It seems that if you make the dump from an unstable state in your mediawiki - this Zend OPcache issue - you are not able to to the importdump.--Donxello (talk) 11:01, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

WikiTaxi imports mediawiki XML files, and the quality in that is fine. The main problem with it is that it has not been updated recently, and is not open source. I haven't yet had the opportunity to compare it further to kiwix, but it's currently winning over kiwix as I've gotten further with it.

My next option is to install mediawiki locally, install the extension and use an XML dump to mirror a wiki so I can export it as ZIM. Which seems like a really silly way to have to go about it when the XML contains all the information anyway.

"you can install it on the source of the content"I cannot, as I am not an administrator of all wikis in the world. To do this I would have to install mediawiki and a .zim creating extension on my computer, and import XML dumps for each wiki I want to convert to .zim.To continue with the previous analogy, the only way I can create a cake (zim file) for myself is to install an entire cake factory (mediawiki) at home (my computer).

Hi! Sorry for relive this thread, but this is the best thread about make an offline wikipedia from the XML dumps, reading this, now I'm making my own, and when I say THE BEST THREAD I mean that I can't find nothing better in google searching. Now, I'm importing to mediawiki, I calculate that is remaining 5 days, but the problem is, once the importing finish, what do I need?
