You don't have to strain much to remember '80s teen movies. So many of these classic flicks still weave their ways regularly into today's pop culture. From directors like John Hughes and Rob Reiner featuring stars like Michael J. Fox and Tom Cruise, '80s high school movies captured the rebellion, angst, and romance of the era. It's no wonder so many of these '80s teen movies stand the test of time. Here are the best of the best '80s teen movies. How many have you seen?

Theater geeks, or anyone to ever appear in a school play, can relate to the highs and lows our teenage cast suffers as the competition gets harder the closer they get to graduation. Alan Parker directs, giving the film an unflinching (if, at times, overstated) portrayal of young performers and the toll chasing their ambitions have on themselves and the relationships most important to them.

He enlists the help of his best friend, the tomboy Watts (played by a never-better Mary Stuart Masterson), and in the process finds himself caught in an unintentional love triangle when he discovers that his best friend loves him in a way she thinks he will never love her. The back half of this movie is a gut punch for any teen forced to endure unrequited love in high school. Thankfully, the movie has a happier ending than most of our stories did.

Yet another show with a concept just begging for nude scenes. Created by David Simon and George Pelecanos, the same people who brought you The Wire, The Deuce follows life in Manhattan during the late '70s Golden Age of Porn and prostitution. Starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal, this show is sexy as hell, and even more naked.

Sex Education is far raunchier and more explicit than the average teenage drama, and being on Netflix surely helps that. The series follows a lonely high schooler who recruits his sex therapist mother and another girl in his class to open a "health clinic" for teens. It's a show about sex, so no surprise about the naked content here.

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan's time-travel romance show is very sexy, and very naked! Balfe plays Clare Randall, a nurse in 1945 who finds herself suddenly back in 1743, and must rely on Jamie (Heughan) to help her. Of course, another period piece means plenty of space for cleavage!

Lilly Singh is a comedy YouTuber who is well-known for her satirical rants and ethnically-themed spoof videos. She began making YouTube videos in 2010 and has reached entirely new heights with the video content she puts out to the world. By 2017, she was ranked tenth on the Forbes list of the world's highest paid YouTube stars, earning a reported $10.5 million; as of September 2020 she has over fourteen million subscribers and over three billion video views.

Singh has featured in the annual YouTube Rewind every year since 2014 (except for 2019). Forbes named her one of the 40 most powerful people in comedy in 2019. Singh has received an MTV Fandom Award, four Streamy Awards, two Teen Choice Awards, and a People's Choice Award.

While there are plenty of brazen nude scenes showcased through the series to date, last season's "walk of shame" arguably rivals them all. In the season five finale, the fallen queen, Cersie (Lena Headey with the help of a body double), is made to walk naked (full frontal and back) through the streets of King's Landing after having confessed to adultery. One of the most horrific scenes in Game of Thrones history, viewers are to surmise that even queens are subject to public humiliation.

Some popular teen movies from the '90s are modern-day adaptations of classic works, including "Clueless" as a Beverly Hills version of Jane Austen's "Emma" and "10 Things I Hate About You" as a '90s adaptation of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew."

Bynes was in dozens of teen movies in the 2000s. She's well-known for starring in 2006's cult-classic hit "She's the Man," but the movie she filmed a few years prior, "What a Girl Wants," shouldn't be forgotten.

Sometimes lost in the shuffle of more popular teen movies from the time, this movie has been praised by both fans and critics alike for its portrayal of teen angst, with some critics calling it "disturbing and hysterically funny."

Halloween launched perhaps the most convoluted and nonsensical of horror universes (there are 12 films in the franchise), but the original remains the best by far. Fifteen years after being sectioned for the murder of his sister, Mike Myers returns to the town of Haddonfield and is hellbent on yet another random killing spree. Everything from the soundtrack to Jamie Lee Curtis to that chilling final scene makes for horror movie perfection. netflix.com

The film that made audiences take M. Night Shyamalan seriously again, The Visit is a comedy-horror film that sees two teenagers terrorised by their elderly grandparents. Yep, really. When Becca and Tyler are sent off to stay with Nana and Pop Pop for five days while their mum goes on a cruise, there's no baking or knitting to be seen, only Nana vomiting all over the living room and yielding a knife. Things get weirder, of course, but the point of an M. Night Shyamalan film is to be surprised by the inevitable mind-bending twist, so we'll leave you to find out the rest for yourself. netflix.com

High school. It feels like a four-year prison sentence when you're a teenager, but, once you're free of its five-day-a-week grasp, you miss it. It's a period when you get to shape yourself, push limits, tick off your parents and fall in love for the first time. Dramatically, it has all of the desired elements: conflict, comedy and a definite end. So it's not a surprise that filmmakers have mined this milieu to iconic effect. It's an experience almost all of share, and it's been explored in myriad ways over the last century of cinema. Which high school films left the deepest groove? Here are twenty-five films that we've never been able to shake.

Let it Snow is a romantic Christmas comedy that centers around the lives and stories of several teenagers in a small town. After a snowstorm hits this small midwestern town on Christmas Eve, a group of high school students are brought together and they soon find their friendships and love lives colliding. One of the storylines includes a budding lesbian relationship between two of the characters.

ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE (R) Director: Larry Clark. With James Woods, Vincent Kartheiser, Melanie Griffith, Natasha Gregson Wagner, James Otis, Christopher Doyle. (101 min.) ++ An experienced thug invites a drug-abusing teenager to become his protg, leading to a violent crime spree. Clarks first movie since the controversial Kids manages to be jarringly naturalistic and flagrantly melodramatic at the same time, bursting with explicit horrors that sound a loud alarm over antisocial elements in Americas heartland.

RUSHMORE (R) Director: Wes Anderson. With Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Olivia Williams, Mason Gamble, Brian Cox. (95 min.) ++++ A precocious prep school student juggles a ridiculous number of extracurricular projects while falling in love with an attractive teacher and sparring with his romantic rival, a sleazy businessman. Anderson fulfills the promise of his inventive Bottle Rocket with this quirky, often hilarious comedy, and Murray gives his most uproarious performance since the groundbreaking Groundhog Day. Sex/Nudity: 1 scene of nude women on posters. Violence: 5 scenes that include rock throwing, fistfights, and a BB gun. Profanity: 26 expressions. Drugs: 5 drinking; 15 scenes of smoking cigarettes.

VARSITY BLUES (R) Director: Brian Robbins. With James Van Der Beek, Jon Voight, Scott Caan, Ron Lester, Richard Lineback, Tonie Perensky. (106 min.) + High school football players hustle for good times on the athletic field and in the local saloon, dogged by parental pressures and the fanaticism of their win-at-any-cost coach. The story is mildly entertaining in its hackneyed way, but theres no excusing the pictures exploitative treatment of almost all the female characters. ++ Predictable, crass, teen flick. Sex/Nudity: 9 scenes of nudity or sex, including mooning, strip bar featuring female biology teacher, and students riding naked in a police car. Violence: 2 mild instances. Profanity: 112 expressions, often harsh. Drugs: 11 scenes involving alcohol and drunkenness; 2 scenes with cigarettes.
